I can’t begin to count the number of people that I have helped erase bad credit. During my travels I have heard so many horror stories that it is ridiculous. My reasoning for writing this article is to help you learn how to erase bad credit yourself.
Im sure that you know by now that having bad credit can be costly. You pay more for everything. I have heard some stories about people who couldnt even rent an important because of their credit. I have heard about people who are paying crazy interest rates just because of their bad credit scores. I could literally go on forever with the tragic stories that I have heard over the years.
In order to begin your journey to erase bad credit like a pro you first need to get an idea of exactly where you stand. The only way to perform this task is to request your current credit report. Getting your credit report is not only easy, but it’s free. Thanks to the Fair Credit Reporting Act every American is entitled to at least one free credit report per year. My recommendation is that you check your credit report bi-annually. After all this is your financial future that is at risk.
Once you have your credit report in your hands it is time to get down to work. You need to highlight every negative mark on your credit report. If for some reason you come across something on your credit report that you do not understand dont hesitate to contact the the bureaus. They are there to assist you, and besides its their job.
After you have located all of the negative marks on your credit report it is time to write a letter of dispute. Don’t attempt to get fancy when writing your letter of dispute i.e. trying to create letterhead or using big words that you wouldn’t normally use. The truth of the matter is I have gotten better results from hand written letters than any other technique that I have tried.
WAIT DON’T PUT THOSE LETTERS OF DISPUTE IN THE MAIL YET! You could be making a HUGE mistake if you don’t mail your letters by certified mail. It is a MUST that your letters of dispute is sent out by certified mail. The reason being this is the only proof that you will have stating when you actually sent the letters out.
After you have dropped your letters of dispute in the mail and you have your certified mail receipt in hand, the credit bureaus have 30 days to investigate your claims. Holding on to your certified mail receipt is the only thing that you have as proof of when you mailed your letters out.
Obviously repairing your credit is way beyond the realm of this article, however the information that I have given to you will defiantly get you off to a good start.
