1. ) Don’t close your old or unused credit card account. Your credit score can lower by doing so. Remember that if you do need to close a report, try to do a recent one instead of your older accounts. Credit repair doesn’t mean you have to close all your credit accounts down.
Don’t miss your bill payments. Missing payments, or paying late, will lower your credit score. Never miss a payment since you can’t make up payments, or remove it from your history.
Don’t charge more than you can pay. Don’t use your credit card to delay making an actual payment. The odds are – if you don’t have money for the item, you won’t when the bill comes around.
Don’t get on a collection agency’s call list. Debt collection agencies will show up negatively on your credit score. If you are on the collection agencies call list make plans for credit repair immediately so you do not stay on their list long.
Don’t run charges up all over town with a lot of different programs. This affects your credit score negatively. It shows that you are desperate for credit, and might not have enough cash to make those purchases.
Use your credit lines. Don’t avoid using them. Not using your credit will not give you much of a credit score. Companies want to know that you can make payments before giving you loans. The lower the credit score, the less chance you have of having a good loan approved.
Pay off all of your debt. Don’t forget the tiny things, like your old rental fine from Blockbuster, or not paying for the gym membership you signed up for. These items you never paid can show up on your credit report. Even if the debt is small, it can still negatively affect your score.
